“Perfume” a BBC Documentary – Episode 3

In episode 3 of “Perfume” we take a look at some new players in the fragrance marketplace and they are not catering to the likes of London, Paris or New York. These new marketplaces are making the perfumers job a difficult one. Much research and product development is required to create a fragrance that are on the cutting edge and viable in these new evolving markets.

Brazil has an ever expanding population that welcome the world of fragrances openly. You might called it a bit of an obsession. We are taken into the private home of Brazilian citizens to see what’s in their bathroom cabinets and follow an American scent guru who is interested in what the adolescents there think of her concepts of a new bodyspray.

Finally, an English couple discover a family tree that leads them back in time to an ancient family perfume house and the remaking of Oriental fragrances that amused Queen Victoria. Todays British tastes may have been modernized but the Gulf States like these hot and heavy scents from the past.
