Pizza Anyone?

This is another example of the endless creative boundaries of the fabulous world of perfume. Not only can you own a perfume to fulfill you longing for your favorite flower but you can also own one that will satisfy your love of pizza. Yes, I said pizza.

Pizza Hut, the American pizza chain, has released a limited edition perfume called “Eau de Pizza”. Eau de Pizza, if you will, was the creation of Pizza Hut Canada, that originally got its start as a survey on the company’s Facebook page. In August the question was posted asking their followers “Do you love the smell of a box of Pizza Hut pizza being opened? We thought so. If that smell was a perfume, what would it be called?” They received more than 280 comments and 180 likes were generated. The ad team for Pizza Hut decided to cash in on the popularity of the results and commissioned the perfume.

What does Eau de Pizza Hut smell like? Pizza, of course, Hot freshly baked pizza with all the toppings and much, much more. I won’t give away all the details but I’ll leave the impressions of this creation to the lovely Katie Puckrik from her YouTube channel “Katie Puckrik Smells.” Take a peek.

    Hi Flaconneur,
Perhaps not a new concept, apparently Burger King has a “fragrance” called Flame . I wrote a poem about it for the Parfumo “Guess that Scent” game in the forum. The fragrance note(s) are listed as simply “grilled meat”. Eeww. I can imagine attracting a few flies at my next summer barbeque with that one.

Oh, I just watched the video after posting my first comment, so Katie already has it covered . No meat smell for Flame, it transpires.
Do you think we’ll see a slew of other fast food frags with associated accords? Most of the dessert and bakery smells have already been done in one gourmand fragrance or another, and the Middle eastern spice route has been wel- trodden, so that really just leaves the fried chicken, hot dogs, tacos and other greasy fare up for grabs.

Yes, Clare, I think that Katie covered the other fast food fragrance, Flame. I never sampled it but it sounds horrific. I can only imagine that popularity is driven by the sheer novelty of these type of releases. Pizza Hut’s approach with a survey was certainly an interesting way of testing the water, so to speak.
