The house of Givenchy was founded by Hubert de Givenchy in 1952. The brand is known for its unique blend of classic French elegance and American glamour, clearly seen in the fashion creations provided for the actress Audrey Hepburn. Givenchy creating a personal wardrobe for the actress as well as numerous costumes for her film roles. Hubert de Givenchy was the man responsible for the “little black dress” that caught the world’s attention in the film “Breakfast At Tiffany’s.”
Perfume Givenchy was founded in 1957, again using their most famous client, Audrey Hepburn as inspiration. Their first women’s fragrance was called L’Interdit. Their first men’s fragrance Monsieur de Givenchy, was launched in 1959.
Givenchy continues to product their classic perfumes such as Givenchy Gentleman, Amarige and Xeryus. In order to maintain a presence in the marketplace, more youthful fragrances are sponsored by popular celebrities such as Liv Tyler and Justin Timberlake.
Givenchy fragrances were made in collaboration with perfumers Dominique Ropion, Bertrand Duchaufour, Emilie (Bevierre) Coppermann, Olivier Cresp, Jean-Pierre Bethouart, Francois Demachy, Daniel Moliere, Daniel Hoffmann, Hubert Givenchy, Christine Nagel, Michel Girard, Paul Leger, Lucas Sieuzac, Alberto Morillas, Ilias Ermenidis, Jacques Cavallier, Christophe Raynaud, Mark Buxton, Francis Fabron, Evelyne Boulanger, Jean-Claude Delville, Pascal Gaurin, Sophie Labbe, Norbert Bijaoui, Francoise Donche, Carlos Benaim, Pierre Wargnye, Anne Flipo and Annick Menardo.
