a journey of the senses by FLACONNEUR
American fashion designer, film director and actor Tom Ford, gained international fame for his turnaround of the nearly bankrupt Gucci company in 1990 and the creation of the Tom Ford label. It was at Gucci where Ford took over the position of Creative Director in 1992, heading up many of the branches of the brand’s business, with one particular of interest, fragrances. When Ford left Gucci in 2004, the company’s value had more than doubled.
Ford’s next position placed him in the limelight with his provocative and highly controversial advertising campaigns for the Yves Saint Laurent fragrance, Opium and M7, gaining much acclaim and exposure.
Ford launched his own brand in 2005 offering fashions, accessories and eyewear with his iconic sexy edge. Ford also formed a partnership with Estée Lauder for development of fragrances and cosmetics. The first fragrance produced was Black Orchid in 2006 and one of Ford’s success stories. Many successful fragrances for both men and women have since been launched, including Tom Ford Private Blend with his introductory fragrance, Purple Patchouli in 2007.
Ford works in collaboration with perfumers Givaudan, David Apel, Harry Fremont, Yves Cassar, Yann Vasnier, Calice Becker, Shyamala Maisondieu, Antoine Maisondieu, Rodrigo Flores-Roux, Olivier Gillotin, Clement Gavarry and Firmenich.
