a journey of the senses by FLACONNEUR

EDMOND ROUDNITSKA

edmond_roudnitska_1Born in Nice in 1905, he died in 1996. This “perfumer composer”, as he defined himself, has profoundly marked his profession and his time. Considered by many the inventor of modern perfumery, he was one of the most important “noses” in the history. He started as a chemist at Roure Bertrand Dupont were he gained an encyclopedic knowledge of natural and synthetic raw materials. This knowlege allowed him to develop the singularity of his writing, very minimalistic and stripped. His encounter with Serge Heftler-Louiche, founder of Christian Dior perfumes and Frédéric Malle’s grandfather was decisive. Together they created many mythical perfumes : Eau Fraîche, Diorissimo, Diorella and the most emblemtic, Eau Sauvage.
